AF SYSTEMS PRESENTS A NEW RANGE OF VENTILATED FAÇADE SOLUTIONS

AF Systems and Tenmat are joining forces to serve the Italian market with products preventing the spread of fire in the gaps between two layers in buildings with ventilated façades.
These systems are certified intumescent barriers with a durability of at least 60 years and can counter the propagation of flames and smoke on many different substrates for up to 180 minutes.
Below is a list of the main products.

AF 102/50

AF 102/50  is a sleeve that acts as a horizontal fire barrier for ventilated gaps, made from a high-expansion intumescent material with low smoke and halogen emissions. It is designed to restore fire resistance performance within façade gaps, providing ventilation in non-fire conditions. The AF102/50 sleeve is a rigid intumescent strip, coated with an aluminium protective layer for easy handling.
During a fire, the intumescent material expands to close the façade gap, providing fire resistance, for integrity and thermal insulation, for up to 120 minutes (tested under BS EN 1363-1, following ASFP TGD 19 guideline).
AF102/50 can be installed within façade gaps up to a nominal width of 50 mm. Once installed, it closes the remaining free air space in front of the 6 mm high sleeve up to a maximum of 44 mm.

AF VFB 60/60

AF VFB 60/60   is a horizontal fire barrier for ventilated façade gaps with a nominal width of up to 450 mm. AF VFB 60/60 comprises a rock wool panel that has been formulated for fire, and a high expansion intumescent sleeve that is fixed to the front edge. Installing AF VFB 60/60 leaves a maximum air gap of 25 mm to allow for ventilation under normal conditions. During a fire, the intumescent sleeve rapidly expands, sealing the gap and preventing the vertical spread of fire within the façade.
AF VFB 60/60 is tested under the ASFP TGD 19 guideline and EN 1363-1, guaranteeing a minimum fire resistance class of 60 minutes for integrity and thermal insulation (up to 180 minutes for gaps up to 40 mm).

AF VFB 120/120

AF VFB 120/120  is a horizontal fire barrier for ventilated façade gaps with a nominal width of up to 450 mm. AF VFB 120/120 comprises a rock wool panel that has been formulated for fire, and supplemented with a high expansion intumescent sleeve fixed to the front edge. Installing AF VFB 120/120 leaves a maximum air gap of 25 mm to allow for ventilation under normal conditions. During a fire, the intumescent sleeve rapidly expands, sealing the gap and preventing the vertical spread of fire within the façade. AF VFB 120/120 is tested under the ASFP TGD 19 guideline and EN 1363-1, guaranteeing a fire resistance class of 60 up to 180 minutes for integrity and thermal insulation (it guarantees a fire resistance class of up to 120 minutes for gaps up to 300 mm wide).

AF VFB PLUS

AF VFB PLUS   is a horizontal fire barrier for ventilated façade gaps with a nominal width of up to 450 mm.
AF VFB Plus comprises a specially formulated fire rated rock wool panel, supplemented with a high expansion intumescent sleeve fixed to the front edge.
Installing AF VFB Plus leaves a maximum air gap of 44 mm to allow for ventilation under normal conditions. During a fire, the intumescent sleeve rapidly expands, sealing the gap and preventing the vertical spread of fire within the façade.
AF VFB Plus is tested under the BS EN1363-1 principles and ASFP TGD19 guideline, and guarantees a fire resistance class of 30 to 180 minutes for integrity and thermal insulation (depending on the application). It is installed by mechanically fixing it inside the façade’s ventilation gap, following the fire compartmentalisation line.
The combination of AF VFB Plus (horizontal barrier) and AF NVFB non-ventilated fire barriers provides vertical compartmentalisation within the façade gap.

AF NVFB

AF NVFB   is a fire barrier for unventilated façade gaps, made of rock wool with fire reaction class A1. It provides fire resistance for integrity (E) and insulation (I) for up to 120 minutes (EI120), depending on the product's installation and façade construction (fire resistance classification under EN 13501-2).
AF NVFB is cut based on the nominal width of the intended gap. It can be supplied with film encapsulation or integrated DPC (or as plain rock wool).
AF NVFB is suitable for gaps with nominal widths up to 600 mm, requiring 5 mm of compression during installation.

AF SYSTEMS expands its product range by using these solutions to address multiple situations
where the façade is a source of fire propagation.
