EI 120 sandwich floor slabs: new certified AF Systems configurations

New configurations tested and certified EI 120 for sandwich floor slabs, including slabs with a thickness of 100 mm.

AF Systems is expanding the range of applications for its service penetration protection solutions with new certified configurations for sandwich floor slabs, achieving a fire resistance rating of EI 120.

A particularly significant result is the ability to protect penetrations in sandwich floor slabs with a thickness of 100 mm. This construction type is increasingly common and presents specific fire compartmentation requirements.

The new configurations cover different types of services and penetrations, using AF Systems solutions for their sealing and protection.

The elements tested include:

Cable trays up to 500 mm wide;
PVC pipes;
Copper pipes;
Multilayer pipes;
Steel pipes;
Corrugated conduits.

The tests involved different AF Systems sealing and protection systems. They build on AF Systems’ ongoing research into sandwich walls, which has also led to the certification of walls just 80 mm thick.

Other non-conventional supporting constructions recently certified include:

Plasterboard walls from a thickness of 80 mm;
Self-supporting wall systems from a thickness of 30 mm;
Cross-laminated timber (CLT) walls from a thickness of 100 mm;
Independent ceilings from a thickness of 30 mm;
CLT floors from a thickness of 120 mm;
EI 120 suspended ceilings with 600 × 600 mm tiles.
